The building of the Museum of the Lubomirski Princes is a contemporary palazzo with classic proportions and an open structure. Rhythmic divisions, strongly outlined orders, balanced proportions are the contemporary image of a classic urban residence. In the courtyard of the Lubomirski Collections Palace, a place was taken by the storage space of the collections — the heart of the collected collection. Massive, woven from small stone blocks, the walls pile up intricately creating together with the window openings a clear gradation of the structure, a traditional, almost classical order included in a free composition. The rhythm of the holes, initially read as homogeneous, rigorous, turns out to be freed from the mathematical grid, creating an irregular but harmonious drawing. A minimalistic detail and combination with translucency and lightness of glazing gives the building a contemporary character, inspiring reflection on the impact of tradition on modernity and continuity in architecture and art.
