Polish Royal Opera in Warsaw

Opera is a combination of many fields of art — music, lyrics, movement, scenography, also architecture. The sculptural form of the buildings is intended to create specific solid tensions, plastic contrasts that create an atmosphere corresponding to the musical event. The buildings are bright cubes immersed in a sea of greenery, clearly flickering against the background of trees, merging with the gray-blue sky. The lines of architecture are clean and simple, standing out against the organic background of nature. The ground floors of the buildings are built of massive blocks of varying size, accommodating a variety of functions. The entrance pavilion has an open plan, and a large number of openings connect it with the surrounding greenery. The Musicians' Building consists of a series of rehearsal rooms, with varied characteristics, preceded by openings. In the largest, closed, rectangular box is located the Auditorium of the Opera Hall.
