Narutowicz Square in Warsaw

In order to extract the potential of historical and landscape values and the strategic location of the area, a redefined form of modern and functional public space was proposed, harmonizing with the park-like character of the district, creating an attractive and friendly new center of “old desire”. The concept involves extracting the semicircular form of Narutowicz Square by filling its space with a wall of buildings from the south-east side and creating a Park along Akademicka Street, rich in the most valuable old trees. The contrast of the metropolitan character of the Square with the surrounding Park overgrown with lush greenery will allow to bring out the qualities of both spaces and emphasize their different character. Activities in the area of the Square are defined on the one hand by service functions designed in open, two-storey ground floors; on the other hand, the square acts as an important interchange of public transport.
