Museum of Natural History in Berlin

The project aims to express the identity of the Museum Fur Naturkunde as a contemporary center of science, an active, innovative voice in the public discourse on the coexistence of man and nature. The presented vision is intended to manifest a revised understanding of the functioning of the museum — its role and offer to society. Hence, a new metaphorical and physical opening of the museum was proposed in the form of a continuous, natural landscape flowing through the museum campus forming a new entrance. This solution highlights nature as a force to inspire and integrate communities within an engaging experience of science, nature, recreation, education and the arts. The surroundings of the museum were treated as a setting to extend the rich museum program to the outside — thus connecting the collection with the city. The public space is a living exhibit here.
